The Memorial

The current Living Flame Memorial for Philadelphia’s fallen police officers and fire fighters was designed by local sculptor Reginald E. Beauchamp.  Dedicated in 1976 and located at Philadelphia’s Franklin Square Park at North Sixth and Race Streets, it is the only combined memorial dedicated to both Police and Fire Fighters in a major U.S. city.

The Fund is undertaking the creation of a new memorial befitting our fallen heroes.  The winner of the design competition for the memorial sponsored by Historic Philadelphia, Inc. (HPI) in cooperation with the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) was announced Thursday, April 26, 2012.
